Nagahiro Watetsu-ji Kuri-kogatana R/L Pair

Limited stock. This is the only pair I have. Tanaka-san has retired long time ago, so any of his tools are no longer obtainable.

White Steel #1 laminated onto Watetsu-ji! Watetsu, Wa(Japanese)-tetsu(iron) refers to byproduct mild steel from smelting Tamahagane. It is similar to Kamaji in composition, but Japanese, and made in tiny quantity. Very rare Ji material. It's hard to see thru the photos, but the Kamaji/Rentetsu like pattern can be observed clearly on the bevel.

The handle and saya is Hou made, finished with wax.

Purcahsed in 2007, right around when Tanaka-san has retired, I have kept this pair for close to a decade, but as I have too many Kuri-kogatanas, it is clear now that I will never get to use them, I decided to part with them....

A total collectors item.
