"Mi" 7bu(21mm) Kiridashi in Signed Kiri Box

One of the three Iwasaki Kiridashi trios, Mi, Sen and Me, the very first model, of which its design was passed on from the Katana smith, Nagashima Munenori, Iwasaki-san's Tamahagane and Katana forging mentor.

Message from Iwasaki-san:

Kiridashis carry their characteristics, depending on the smiths' way of thinking, method, technique. I succeeded this form from my master Munenori. School wise, he is one of Echigo school smith exclusive to Shibata domain, Takahashi something - Kiyomune - Munenori.

I am abiding by my predecessor's teaching as basic form. But it is often more difficult to stick to the basics accurately. "Mi" refers to "Mi"juku (yet to mature), or my wish to ask the users to look forward to the "Mi"rai (future.)

IMHO, this is THE most refined and one of the best performing Kiridashis in Japan. Shigefusa, Konobu, Kiyohisa-san, etc. make as good performing Kiridashis, but the overall super fine finishing is just not on par. You shall see what no compromise means with this Kiridashi.

Sanjyo Seisakujo now has over 800 pieces of Kamisoris back ordered, and now that Iwasaki-san is retired, and Mizuochi-san is the only one working, it takes years to get any Iwasaki item nowadays. This knife came in after 3 years from placing the order. If you are an Iwasaki fan, be quick!

Blade width: 21mm
Overall length: Apx.215mm
Steel: Assab Swedish pure carbon steel (my guess is K120.)
