Mumon Touryuu Petit knife 150mm

JPY9,985

As Shigefusa knives are carbon steel knives, I have searched for stainless alternatives which are still comparable in overall quality if not as good. After considering a few knives, this and Heiji-san's new product can be recommended.

Mumon Touryuu isn't as nearly as expensive as Shigefusa, much more affordable, because these involve much machine processing (but mostly handmade tho) as opposed to 100% hand made hand finished Shigeufsa.

At the moment I can only supply 240mm gyuto and 150mm petit knife, until the mentioned stock run out.

The mei "Mumon Touryuu" means something like "A dragon passing thru the gate of no gate."

It is quite difficult to show the actual beauty of this knife thru the photos. I was very surprised to see it myself how different it was from the photos upon inspecting the actual knife.

I've listed a few photos in my JT main page, shot in different ways to show what this knife can look like. Yet unfortunately, none of the photos are doing any justice to the beauty of these knives.

For the price, I think these are extremely well made knives. The performance is of course among the top from Japan.

Heiji INOX stainless knives are semi-stainless (they will patinate no matter what, and will even rust if you don't look after the blade "at all"), and his ATS-34 models are quite expensive, so if you are looking for the best stainless knives which you don't have to worry about rust or patina pretty much at all, without having to spend too much, these are my most recommended.
